My Mac shows a grey or black screen when I open MovieStarPlanet
If MovieStarPlanet only shows a grey or black screen on your Mac, the game is probably not installed yet. This happens when the game is opened straight from the installer window instead of from your Applications folder.
Install the game in Applications
- Quit MovieStarPlanet if it is open. Click the game window and press Command (⌘) + Q.
- Open the installer you downloaded. You can usually find it in your Downloads folder. A window opens with the MovieStarPlanet icon and an Applications folder.
- Drag the MovieStarPlanet icon onto the Applications folder. Don't double-click the icon in this window.

- Eject the installer. In Finder, select the eject button (⏏) next to MovieStarPlanet in the sidebar.
- Open Finder, go to Applications and double-click MovieStarPlanet. The first time, you may need to right-click the game and select Open.
Next time you want to play, open MovieStarPlanet from Applications or Launchpad. You can delete the downloaded installer file.
Still a grey or black screen?
- Download the newest version from the MovieStarPlanet front page and follow the steps again.
- If it still doesn't work, contact us and attach the file Last.log. You can find it in Finder under Documents → MSPDL → logs.
