Digital Family
A guide for parents and guardians
Welcome to MovieStarPlanet, MovieStarPlanet 2, and BlockStarPlanet! 👋
We believe that working together with parents and guardians is an important part of creating a fun and safe online experience for children.
Children often spend a lot of time online, so talking about their digital life can be just as important as talking about their day at school. Here are some simple ways you can support them.
Supporting your child's online life
💬 Talk about their online world
Ask your child about what they do online, who they talk to, and what they enjoy. For children, their online and offline worlds are closely connected.
🗣️ Talk about communication
Online messages don't include body language, facial expressions, or tone of voice. Help your child understand that messages can sometimes be misunderstood.
Encourage them to:
- Communicate clearly and respectfully.
- Avoid sending messages when they're angry.
- Say no when something makes them uncomfortable.
- Ask for help when a conflict is difficult to resolve.
🤝 Help with conflicts
If your child has a disagreement with another player, talk it through with them and help them find a respectful way to handle it.
❤️ Be kind and inclusive
Encourage your child to treat others with kindness and respect. Remind them that there's a real person behind every account.
🌟 Be a role model
Children learn from the behaviour they see around them. Show positive online behaviour yourself and talk openly about how to treat others online.
Helping your child stay safe online
🔒 Set clear rules
Set rules that are appropriate for your child's age and maturity. Talk about who they can interact with online and what information they should keep private.
Remind them that you can't always know who is behind an online account.
🚫 Keep personal information private
Teach your child not to share personal information such as their:
- Full name
- Phone number
- Home address
- School
- Passwords
- Other information that could identify them
🔑 Use a strong password
Help your child create a strong, unique password and make sure they understand that passwords should never be shared with friends or other players.
If your child believes someone has accessed their account, change the password and contact Support if needed.
🛡️ Know how to report and block
If your child encounters inappropriate behaviour or content, show them how to report the player or content and block other users.
You can also manage inappropriate comments on your child's profile where available.
💳 Talk about purchases
If your child uses real money to make purchases in the games, make sure you're involved in the payment process.
This is also a good opportunity to talk about spending, saving, and making responsible choices with in-game currency.
Keep the conversation going
The best way to support your child's online experience is to keep talking. Make it easy for them to come to you if something online makes them uncomfortable, confused, or upset.
We're here to help too. If you have concerns about your child's experience in MovieStarPlanet, MovieStarPlanet 2, or BlockStarPlanet, you can contact our Support team.
